About St Kilda
St Kilda is a real island, located in the North Atlantic Ocean, and owned by the National Trust for Scotland (whose name and logo often appear on the island’s stamps).
However, there is no permanent population, and labels inscribed ‘St Kilda’ have been issued primarily for collectors rather than for postal use.
As privately produced issues, stamps of St Kilda – like those of other islands off the coast of Britain – are considered to be Cinderellas, but remain interesting and collectable in their own right.
