Description
Four values from the “Ajman State and its Dependencies” 1972 issue depicting wild animals: tiger (5d), zebra (15d), lion (25d) and rhino (35d). The full set features four additional values – not included here.
The Middle Eastern emirate of Ajman – now part of the United Arab Emirates – issued its own stamps, inscribed simply “Ajman”, between 1964 and 1967. Subsequently, various agencies produced a succession of “Ajman State and its Dependencies” issues between 1967 and 1972, but these are not believed to have been sold or used for postage in the country, so can be considered as unofficial or even bogus stamps.
