About Bréhon
The name Bréhon can refer both to Bréhon Rock - a tiny island located in the Little Russell channel between St Peter Port, Guernsey, and the islands of Herm and Jethou - or to Bréhon Tower, the 19th century fortification that sits upon the rock.
Cinderella stamps bearing the Bréhon name typically feature an illustration of the fort, and - from what little our research has uncovered so far - seem to have been produced at least between 1993 and 2010. Aitchison's 2003 "Channel Island Locals" catalogue reports that each issue has marked a visit to the island, with a small number of postcards prepared and carried back to Herm on each occasion.
As an aside, the Bréhon Tower has also featured on official Bailiwick of Guernsey issues - including the Post & Go vending machine issue from 2017 - and also on the 6d value from Herm's 1959 definitive issue and subsequent overprints.
