About Graham Land

Named after the British politician Sir James Graham (1792-1861), Graham Land is the name given by Britain to the northernmost section of the Antarctic Peninsula.

As one of several separate dependencies of the Falkland Islands up to 1962, a single set of stamps for Graham Land was produced in 1944. Today, the area forms part of the British Antarctic Territory, though it is also claimed by Argentina and Chile.

Inspired by this one-off 1944 Graham Land issue, we gave our own stamp shop – which is owned and managed by someone called Graham, and was founded exactly half a century later in 1994 – the name “Graham Land Stamps”.

Subsequently, we have resurrected “Graham Land” as a stamp-issuing entity through our own Cinderella labels, which we affix to the back of customer orders and cancel with a distinctive “Graham Land” postmark.
