Description

The Russian Federation began issuing its own stamps – inscribed “Rossija” – in 1992 after the collapse of the Soviet Union, and this is a nice selection of stamps (21 in total) from the first couple of years of independent Russia.

The issues included in this selection are:

  • 1992 Prioksko-Terrasnyi Nature Reserve (1v, 50k, SG 6351*)
  • 1992 Expeditions (3v, 55k to 1r, SG 6365-67)
  • 1992 Ducks (3v, 1r to 3r, SG 6368-70)
  • 1993 17th Birth Anniversary of Marius Petipa (Choreogrpher) (4v, all 25r, SG 6387-90)
  • 1993 Characters from Children’s Books (2nd Series) (5v, 2r to 25r, SG 6391-95)
  • 1993 Pot Plants (5v, 10r to 100r, SG 6398-6402).

Cancelled-to-order (CTO) condition (see our glossary page for an explanation of what CTO means).

* Stanley Gibbons catalogue numbering treats Russia as a continuation of the USSR, rather than as a brand-new country, hence the numbers being in the 6,000s.
