Description

Stamp issued by Croatia in 1995, celebrating the country’s Statehood Day (Dan državnosti) on 30 May, and depicting a hand holding a rose in front of Croatia’s coat of arms.

Some catalogues incorrectly state that the issue is for Croatia’s Independence Day, but that event falls on 8 October, and is written as Dan neovisnosti in Croatian.

Listed in Stanley Gibbons’ catalogue as SG 354.

U/M / Unmounted Mint / MNH / Mint Never Hinged.

About Croatia

Croatia declared independence from Yugoslavia in 1991 and began issuing its own stamps, inscribed “Republika Hrvatska”, the same year.

Previously, during the Second World War, German and Italian occupying forces produced stamps for the “Independent State of Croatia” (inscribed “Nezavisna Država Hrvatska”, or “ND Hrvatska”) between 1941 and 1951.
