Description

Three values (1c, 2c and 3c) from the unofficial 1968 Kennedy issue that bears the name of the Philippines (Pilipinas) but was never authorised for sale in the country. The full set also features 5p and 10p values – not included here.

A detailed account of the history of this issue can be read here. In short, the Secretary of Public Works, Transportation and Communications of the Philippines entered into an agreement with New York stamp dealer Ezzet Mosden to produce and market Philippines stamps to philatelists. However, the validity of the contract was disputed, recognition from the Philippine Postal Administration was withheld, and the stamps were never made available at Filipino post offices. Subsequently referred to as the ‘Kennedy Mosden Issue’, the stamps – effectively now Cinderella labels, rather than official postage stamps – were sold to collectors outside the Philippines instead.

U/M / Unmounted Mint / MNH / Mint Never Hinged.
