Description
Single privately created 2022 £1 Farne Islands stamp by Kevin Lynch, produced following a visit to Northumberland, and depicting a puffin peering out from its burrow on Inner Farne.
Issued on 24 May, 300 copies of this stamp were printed, with 30 of those used on postcards mailed from the Royal Mail postbox on Inner Farne itself.
Kevin evidently got his trip in just in time, with the avian flu outbreak – which killed several thousand of the island’s birds – causing Inner Farne to be closed to visitors between July 2022 and March 2024, before finally being able to reopen.

About the Farne Islands
Located off the Northumberland coast, the National Trust-owned Farne Islands are an important seabird colony, known for their puffins.
Fantasy stamps bearing the islands' name are the work of Devon-based Cinderella creator Kevin Lynch. Following his previous Farne Island issues from 2012 (now sold out) and 2016, Kevin released a new £1 stamp in 2022.
