Description

Vintage postcard showing Barras Bridge (Haymarket) in Newcastle upon Tyne (historic Northumberland, modern Tyne & Wear), including the Church of St Thomas the Martyr and the South Africa War Memorial.

Condition: The card is unposted, but has some visible damage – on the back, the top is thinned (as shown in the scan), causing creasing on the picture side, and there is some other scuffing on the back, perhaps where the card has been affixed in an album. The corners are also somewhat blunted. Nevertheless, it is still an interesting scene from Newcastle’s history.

Publisher: The Prince’s Postcard Co.

Publication date: 1910s? (the War Memorial was unveiled in 1908, so it must date from after that).
