Czech Republic

The Czech Republic was previously part of Czechoslovakia, which had existed since 1918.

On 1 January 1993, the so-called “Velvet Divorce” took place, in which Czechoslovakia was peacefully dissolved and replaced by the independent countries of the Czech Republic (Czechia) and Slovakia. Both countries have produced their own stamp issues since then.
